Artistic Team

Eugene Lee began working as an actor in the early 1970s and continues to appear on stage, in movies and on television. His acting credits include works at stages such as The Negro Ensemble Company of New York, True Colors in Atlanta, the Huntington Theater in Boston, Seattle Rep, Pittsburgh Playwrights’ Theatre, Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Crossroads Theatre in New Jersey.

His writing credits include episodes of Homicide: “Life on the Streets” (Emmy nominated), “Walker, Texas Ranger”, “Michael Hayes”, “The Journey of Allen Strange”, “The Turks”, and the Morgan Freeman produced television movie, “Port Chicago”. His own characters come to life through his plays, including, East Texas Hot Links, which has been produced on stages from Los Angeles to New York and London’s Royal Court Theatre and is published by Samuel French play publishers. His other plays include Fear Itself, Somebody Called: A Tale of Two Preachers, Killingsworth, Lyin’ Ass and the musical, Twist.

Most recently seen on Broadway in “American Son” with Kerry Washington and Stephen Pasquale and Jeremy Jordan in the fall of 2018 and in the Emmy nominated film adaptation of that play for Netflix and as General Mears in Showtime’s “Homeland” eighth season. Lee is Artist in Residence and Artistic Director of the Black and Latino Playwright’s Celebration at Texas State University. 

Nadine Mozon is an actor, writer, theatre artist/educator. Mozon’s actor/writer work includes Blue Spiral, Delta Rhapsody, I.D. Please, Confirming the Search…, and Ms. Middle, a new work in development, featured via Joining the Dots Theatre, Sydney Australia Spring 2020; and playwright for Harlem 9’s 48 Hours in Harlem Play Festival, Summer 2020. Theatre roles include: hang, Mother’s Day, The Book of Grace, Intimate Apparel, Fences, For Colored Girls…, Home, Crumbs from the Table of Joy; TV/Film: “The Leftovers”, “American Crime”, “Friday Night Lights”, “Law & Order”, “Katrina’s Son”, “Wolf”, “Dawn”, “Two Weeks Notice”, “Shaft”. Mozon is an associate professor teaching acting, movement and writing at Texas State University. She is a co-artistic director of the Black & Latino Playwrights Celebration.

During her 14 years at Texas State University, Professor Maines led the theatrical lighting design program and spent seven years as head of design, technology, and management before becoming department chair in 2020.  As lighting designer, Professor Maines has designed several productions each season for ZACH Theatre in Austin including A Christmas Carol: A Rockin’ Musical, Once, In the Heights, Terrance McNally’s 80th birthday gala, and Ann starring Holland Taylor, which was featured on PBS’s Great Performances and BroadwayHD.  Additionally, she designed 36Q in Prague, Water by the Spoonful at Stages Rep, A Dolphin Christmas at Sea World San Antonio, and Illinois Shakespeare Festival’s 2013 and 2014 seasons.  As assistant lighting designer, she worked on seven national and three international productions of Jersey Boys, which won the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design and Best Musical in 2006.  She also worked as associate lighting designer on the Broadway production of Sarah Jones’s Bridge and Tunnel, the New York City Center and Broadway productions of Gypsy starring Patti Lupone, and the first national tour of In the Heights.  Prior to joining the faculty at Texas State, Professor Maines spent four years as the head of graduate lighting design at Florida State University.  MFA, University of California, San Diego.  Member of Local 829 - Lighting.
